TEACHING INTERNSHIP

The teaching internship is a curricular activity, in the form of a discipline, aimed at preparing students for teaching activities in higher education. Teaching internship activities are carried out at the undergraduate level of UFSC or another higher education institution.

The teaching internship is mandatory for Capes/Ds scholarship holders in the doctoral course and optional for other students. The other rules for the Teaching Internship are regulated by Resolution 01/PPGSC/2022.

TEACHING INTERNSHIP WORKLOAD

There are three Teaching Internship disciplines, depending on the student’s teaching workload in the undergraduate course, which are:

Teaching Internship I: work plan with activities of 15 to 36 hours/year, providing for the teaching of 3 to 5 hours of theoretical, theoretical-practical or practical classes in an undergraduate course of at least 2 credits. The student will be assigned 1 credit (15h) on their academic transcript after completing the internship.

Teaching Internship II: work plan with activities of 30 to 54h/year, providing for the teaching of 8 to 10 hours of theoretical, theoretical-practical or practical classes in an undergraduate course of at least 3 credits. The student will be assigned 2 credits (30h) on their academic transcript after completing the internship.

Teaching Internship III: work plan with activities of 45 to 72 hours, including 12 to 15 hours of theoretical, theoretical-practical or practical classes in an undergraduate course of at least 4 credits. The student will be assigned 3 credits (45 hours) on their academic transcript after completing the internship.

ENROLLMENT IN TEACHING INTERNSHIP (2024.2)

1. To enroll in Teaching Internship, the student must choose one of the DISCIPLINES OF THE UNDERGRADUATE COURSE OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT and contact the professor responsible for the discipline to check the availability to prepare and supervise the activity plan. Note: According to Resolution 01/PPGSC/2022, students may also choose to complete their teaching internship in subjects from another Department in the area of ​​Public Health that are taught by PPGSC/UFSC professors.

2. Next, students must complete the Teaching Internship Plan (activity plan) together with the supervising professor of the subject. The completion of the teaching internship plan must be in accordance with Resolution 01/PPGSC/2022, especially regarding the teaching intern’s workload in the undergraduate subject.

3. The Teaching Internship Plan must be sent to the PPGSC secretariat by August 9, 2024, duly completed and signed, using the form: FORM

4. The Teaching Internship Plan will be analyzed by the Teaching Internship committee and then deliberated upon by the Board.

Note: if necessary, the teaching internship committee may request adjustments to the teaching internship plans.

5. After the Board’s deliberation and approval, the administrative secretary will send an email to the student informing them of the approval of the Teaching Internship and will proceed with the enrollment of the Teaching Internship course at CAPG.

6. To complete the Teaching Internship, the student must fill out the Teaching Internship Report. If you have any questions about filling out the report, the Teaching Internship Committee can also be contacted via the email addresses provided above.

7. The Teaching Internship Report must be sent to the PPGSC secretariat by December 6, 2024, duly completed and signed, via the following email address (ppgsc@contato.ufsc.br) with the subject “TEACHING INTERNSHIP REPORT”.

8. The Teaching Internship Report is analyzed by the Teaching Internship Committee and then deliberated upon by the Board.

9. After the Board has deliberated and approved it, the administrative secretary will include the final grade for the teaching internship subject in the student’s academic record, via the CAPG system.
